The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have appointed top Swedish coach, Thomas Dennerby, to take over the country’s women’s team, the Super Falcons.

His initial contract is till the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, according to NFF vice-president Shehu Dikko.

Dennerby himself said he is delighted with his latest appointment.

“I am extremely proud, happy and honoured to be the new head coach of the Super Falcons,” said Dennerby via a video clip made available by the NFF.

“It is a highly exciting and responsible position.

“Falcons have high potential and high expectations and I hope my experience for many years of international women’s football can develop this team.

“We hope to get started soon.”

The contract also enables Dennerby to take up the post with an assistant,  Jorgen Petersson, another highly experienced Swedish coach nominated by Dennerby himself.
