Ugonna Anyora has joined Enugu Rangers from Sweden

All the three overseas returnee players, Felix Ogbuke, Ugonna Anyora and Chukwuemeka, signed by Enugu Rangers will play no part in the Coal City Flying Antelopes opening season visit to Akwa United, has been informed.

The trio headlined the 17 new players signed by the ambitious club who were unveiled Thursday in Enugu.

But our checks revealed they did not make coach Gbenga Ogunbote’s match day cut.

An official would confirm our findings, but said it was strategic as they would get their Rangers debut on home soil next Wednesday against Lobi Stars.

“They are not part of the team that traveled to Uyo. That means they will not play on Sunday”, the official said.

“No, there is nothing wrong. They have all been cleared as we are with their international clearance papers already, otherwise we wouldn’t have unveiled them.

“Truth is that, they were left behind since we have another match on Wednesday, so it is important to always refresh your squad in every given match.

“Besides, it is important they first play in front of their home club supporters.”

Today’s match in Uyo will be shown live on national television NTA.
