Rivers United last season

Rivers United coach Stanley Eguma has told Scorenigeria.com.ng that after failing to land his to transfer targets during the off season, he decided to go for youngsters who he said are disciplined and determined to play and achieve success.

“We signed players from second tier league teams like Bayelsa United, Osun United, Papilo FC and Nnewi United amongst others”, Eguma exclusively said to Scorenigeria.com.ng.

“They are young, disciplined, determined and committed. They want to play and are hungry for success.

“These are qualities needed to achieve success”.

‘The Pride of Rivers’ lost the services of many of their key players.

While Lobi Stars and Kano Pillars are major beneficiaries, winger Bolaji Sarkin and Joseph Doughaji drifted to Guinea and Turkey, respectively.

Rivers United failed to secure the services of Rangers midfielder Godwin Aguda and Katsina United strikers Chinedu Udechukwu and Martin Usule.

“Altogether, we have registered 33 players for the season.

“This comprises of 16players from our last season’s squad and 17 new players”.

The 2017/2018 season will kick off on Saturday but Rivets United will welcome El Kanemi Warriors on Sunday at Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt in their opening fixture.
