Manu Garba – Is he the next U17 coach?

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are yet to decide on the coaches for the country’s U17 and U20 teams amid rumours of changes of initial recommendations.

The NFF technical committee met in Abuja Thursday, but the issue of the coaching posts of the two age-group teams was again not on the agenda even though the Flying Eagles could well play an U20 AFCON qualifier as early March.

The qualifiers involving the Eaglets are only due much later this year.

It is believed that a lot of political jockeying is going on as regards these positions.

“The coaching positions of both the U17 and U20 national teams were not discussed,” a member of the technical committee informed SCORENigeria

Akwa United coach Abdu Maikaba has already been announced as head coach of the U17s, but speculations are now rife that he has been asked to move up to the U20s, while Manu Garba will retain his Golden Eaglets post.

Also, Paul Aigbogun of Enyimba was initially recommended to head the Nigeria U20s, the Flying Eagles.

However, neither Miakaba or Manu has been given an appointment letter to that effect.

But it was further gathered they have already began to scout for players for the various national teams privately.
