Newly appointed coach Erasmus Onuh has told SCORENigeria he remains hopeful of Niger Tornadoes chances in the new season even after they lost 3-2 to an Abuja Selected team, who paraded the likes of ex-Eagles star Nosa Igiebor and Michael Tukura, in a test game today in Abuja.
Onuh took over the Minna club from Abubakar Bala only last week.
“I got an opportunity to see the boys for the first time in a match situation and I am hopeful we will get it right as the season progresses,” Onuh told SCORENigeria
“I now have a good idea of what my team will look like in our opening games.”
Returnee stars like Solomon Owello and Isyaku Illiyasu as well goalkeeper Mustapha Aliko and Reuben Ogbonnaya all featured for Tornadoes.
Tornadoes will be guests of Kwara United on Sunday in their opening game of the new season, before they welcome FC Ifeanyiubah to their adopted home in Lokoja on Wednesday.
They barely escaped relegation last season.
