Chidi Nwakali – Still believes he can be on the flight to Russia 2018

Scorenigeria.com.ng has been told Manchester City youngster Chidiebere Nwakali moved to Aberdeen of Scotland in a bid to enjoy regular playing time that would enhance his chances of featuring for Nigeria at the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals in Russia.

The midfielder is pushing for a regular team shirt in the Super Eagles after he was invited for the friendly against Argentina last year as well as the dead-rubber World Cup qualification clash away to The Fennes of Algeria.

“It is a six month loan deal he signed with Aberdeen,” an official of ASJ Academy, the former football academy of the player told SCORENigeria

“You know this is a World Cup year and every player wants to be involved.

“And for you not to be left out, you have to be on top of your game.

“You have to be involved in every single game for your country and Chidiebere (Nwakali) also has that big ambition.”

Chidiebere Nwakali won the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup with the Golden Eaglets in Dubai.

He was immediately signed by Premier League giants Manchester City who sent him on loan to Malaga of Spain in 2015.

He was later to move to Girona also of Spain after which he went to IK Start of Norway also on loan.

At IK Start, the 21-year-old midfielder scored thrice in 22 appearances, before going on another loan to Sogndal also in Norway, where he found the back of the net four times in 26 appearances.
