Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles were tonight held to a goalless draw in a friendly before CHAN 2018, which kicks off this weekend in Morocco.

CHAN Eagles coach Salisu Yusuf, who celebrated his 56th birthday today, started his best team playing a cautious 4-4-2 formation.

It was a very physical contest as tackles flew from all directions.

Cameroon enjoyed more of the ball and created the better chances in the first half, but the CHAN Eagles came strongly into the game as it wore on.

Goalkeeper and captain Ikechukwu Ezenwa pulled off a big save on 23 minutes after Cameroon tore through the Eagles defence.

Akwa United striker Okechukwu Gabriel had a goal chalked off late in the first half for offside.

Nigeria stepped up the pace in the second half with the introduction of the likes of Sunday Faleye, Mustapha Ibrahim and Dayo Ojo.

Ajiboye ensured the game ended goalless with a timely save off a Cameroon header in the closing moments of this encounter.
