The selection of as many as five players from Enyimba for the 2018 Championship for African Nations (CHAN) slated for Morocco next week is now putting a huge question mark on the possibility of the league kicking off January 14 as scheduled.
Goalkeepers Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Theophilus Afelokhai, defender Ikouwem Udoh, midfielder Augustine Oladapo and striker Ibrahim Mustapha were selected on Tuesday among the 23-man team for the championship.
Under existing NFF rules, teams with as many as five players and above in the national team could ask for a shift in their domestic fixtures if they so desire.
‘The People’s Elephant’, domestic league champions for seven times, will represent Nigeria in the second-tier CAF interclub championship, CAF confederation Cup, this year.
“We’re still studying the situation. After that we will make known our official position”, an official of the two-time African champions told scorenigeria.com.ng
