Midfielder Afeez Aremu has specially told SCORENigeria “it’s very painful” he will not feature for Nigeria at next year’s CHAN in Morocco after he signed a three-year contract with Norwegian club IK Start.

The CHAN is exclusively reserved for players who ply their trade in their respective domestic leagues and so Aremu, 18, has now been ruled out after he agreed a pro deal with newly promoted Norwegian club IK Start.

“It’s so painful I will now not be part of the CHAN because I was really looking forward to being part of the competition,” he told SCORENigeria

“All the same, I wish the team all the best in Morocco.”

IK Start were the club who were impressed with the displays of the young defensive midfielder at the recent WAFU Cup in Ghana.

And they have now followed up their interest by giving him a deal.

“I have signed a three-year contract,” informed the former Akwa United and Sunshine Stars ace.

“I am so excited to join IK Start and now I can’t wait to join the team in Norway next month to prepare for the new season.”

Former Flying Eagles star Solomon Owello played for many years at IK Start and only recently Chidiebere Nwakali was on loan at the club before they were relegated from the top league in Norway.
