Mikel Obi in aerial battle for Eagles vs Argentina. Nigeria plan big for Russia 2018

Nigeria plan to spend three billion Naira to ensure the country’s team fly high at next year’s World Cup in Russia, according to sports minister Solomon Dalung.

“We have a conservative budget of about three billion Naira,” informed Dalung.

“FIFA will contribute about 900 million Naira, sponsors and other partners 600 million, while the government will bring around 2.5 billion.”

He further said a strong Federal Government delegation will be in Russia to cheer the Super Eagles to victory.

The government plans to pay the Super Eagles some of their bonuses and allowances as early as March.

“These payments will go a long way in boosting the confidence of the players,” the minister disclosed.

Nigeria are drawn in Group D of Russia 2018 alongside Argentina, Croatia and Iceland.

They open their campaign on June 16 against Croatia.
