The statue of Argentina captain Lionel Messi in Buenos Aires has again been vandalised.
The statue, which is placed along other Argentina sports stars in the ‘Garden of Glory’, was cut off by the ankles possibly between Sunday night and Monday.
The statue was mounted in June 2016.
It was first vandalised early this year, when the head and arms were cut off.
Last year, the statue of former women’s tennis star Gabrielle Sabatini was vandalized with her racket stolen.
Could the supporters of the Super Eagles or any of the other 2018 World Cup Group D rivals Croatia and Iceland be behind the latest problem with the statue of the 30-year-old Barcelona super star, who returned from international retirement to lead his country through a laboured qualifying campaign to Russia 2018?
