Henry Onyekuru has told ScoreNigeria.com.ng he was overwhelmed with the standing ovation he received from KAS Eupen fans after he was replaced by Anderlecht in a Belgian league game yesterday.
The Everton loanee said he felt the love of the fans of his former club.
The KAS Eupen fans stood up to give him a standing ovation when he was substituted with less than 10 minutes to play in the game visiting Anderlecht won 3-2.
Onyekuru, who had a goal in the game adjudged as an own goal, said it was a sweet home coming for him.
“I felt so loved when I was given standing ovation by the home fans when I was leaving the pitch,” he told SCORENigeria
“It was a great home coming for me, it was a good and great feeling when you go back home and the same fans still appreciate what you did last season even when you are now playing against them.
“It was massive for me.”
The Nigeria star had also told SCORENigeria he will not celebrate should he score a goal against his former club.
