Rivers State sports commissioner Boma Iyaye has congratulated Go Round FC for winning promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Go Round FC finished in second place in the Southern Conference of the Nigeria National League (NNL) ahead of closest rivals Bayelsa United after they thrashed First Bank 4-0 in their final league game of the season on Saturday.
The win secured a promotion ticket to the NPFL for Go Round FC and Iyaye has saluted the accomplishment of the club.
“I want to, on behalf of the Rivers State Government, congratulate Go Round FC for this historic feat,” he said.
“I also want to use this medium to salute the supremo of Go Round FC, Felix Obua for his untiring efforts and tenacity in ensuring that Rivers State can now boast of two clubs in the top flight of Nigerian football.
“We wish Go Round FC all the best in the upcoming season and in the future.”
Go Round FC owner Obua is a frontline politician in Rivers State.
