Sunshine Stars forward Dayo Ojo has emerged as a top target of Aiteo Cup finalists Akwa United, SCORENigeria can report.
It was understood that the FC Ifeanyiubah stars Drissa Bamba, Isaac Loute and Yaya Kone have, through their agent, shown interest in featuring for ‘The Promise Keepers’.
Ojo was inspirational all through the 90 minutes duration despite Sunshine Stars 3-1 defeat by Akwa United in Sunday’s Aiteo second leg semi-final inside the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
His performance did not go unnoticed as ‘The Promise Keepers’ hierarchy has listed him for signing ahead the next season.
Scorenigeria.com.ng would further learn there has been contact between the 23-year-old and the Aiteo Cup winners in 2015.
“We wanted to sign him when he came back from Sudan where he had a brief spell before returning to the domestic NPFL”, offered an official of Akwa United.
“But hopefully, he will be part of us next season.”
Ojo had featured for the Nigeria U17s in 2010/2011 where he scored once in three appearances, U20 with a cap before being capped at the senior level in 2015.
Scorenigeria.com.ng checks further reveal that Akwa United has become the beautiful bride for top rated NPFL stars who have shown interest in featuring for the Abdul Maikaba side in the coming season.
“They are not the only ones who want to join us for next season,” an Akwa United official disclosed.
“There are many others, but one thing is that coach Maikaba doesn’t seem prepared to effect plenty intakes into the club.
“He believes he has a good team at the moment but will only refresh the squad slightly.
“Possibly he will bring in a few players and take about four players from Akwa Starlets.”
