Super Eagles assistant coach Imama Amapakabo (left) with Ogenyi Onazi. He will lead El Kanemi in the new season

Former Rangers coach Imama Amapakabo has agreed a year’s deal to lead El Kanemi Warriors in the new season, SCORENigeria has again scooped.

An insider informed SCORENigeria that the deal was finalized in Uyo Saturday, where Imama is with the Super Eagles as an assistant coach.

He will be presented to the media and public on Tuesday by El Kanemi, who finished sixth this past season.

Last year, Imama led Rangers to end a 32-year wait for a major piece of silverware when he led them to win the NPFL title, but months later he was eased out of his post as Rangers battled against relegation.

The former Nigeria U17 goalkeeper has previously worked as assistant coach with Enyimba and Sharks.

He has replaced Ladan Bosso, whose two-year contract with the Maiduguri team was not renewed by the new management.

Former Kano Pillars coach Mohammed Baba Ganaru and Gbenga Ogunbote, who handled Enyimba last season, were also understood to be in the running for the top El Kanemi post.
