The Super Eagles are chiming after they booked their flight to Russia 2018 even with a round of matches to spare.
A super strike by substitute Alex Iwobi of Arsenal against Zambia in Uyo on Saturday sealed Nigeria’s passage to their sixth World Cup finals.
Many of the Eagles stars took to social media to express their happiness with this feat.
Man of the moment Iwobi proudly mounted a video clip of the historic goal while saying on Twitter: ”A Dream come true…We’re heading to the World Cup. Nice to get the winning goal. Massive thanks to our fans. The atmosphere was crazy.”
His Eagles roommate Kelechi Iheanacho, who was an unused sub in this qualifier, tweeted: “Massive way to qualify for the World Cup. Congrats to my bro @alexiwobi, his goal is taking us to Russia 2018 World Cup.”
Iheanacho’s tweet also had a dramatic photo of captain Mikel Obi and Iwobi flying high on an eagle on their way apparently to Russia.
Mainz 05 defender Leon Balogun paid a glowing tribute to his parents.
“Mama and papa I made it – your little Leon is going to the World Cup. We’ve come a long way. Proud to be your son,” he tweeted.
His partner in the Eagles ‘Oyibo wall’, William Troost-Ekong spoke of dreams coming true and then had another tweet simply carrying a picture of himself wearing a t-shirt proclaiming Nigeria’s qualification to Russia 2018.
