Four-time Nigeria champions Kano Pillars have confirmed Ibrahim A. Musa as head coach for the new season after he acted in that capacity last term, while they have let go eight players.

Pillars chairman Muhammad Tukur Babangida confirmed this in a statement signed by the club media officer Rilwanu Idris Malikawa shortly after the board meeting at the club secretariat in Kano.

Babangida also said the board agreed that Ibrahim A. Musa will work with his a crew that includes Ahmad Garba ‘Yaro Yaro’ as chief coach, Christopher Friday as assistant coach and Muzamil Aliyu to maintain his position as goalkeeper trainer.

The chairman said the board appointed Kabir Baleria as the team manager of the club with immediate effect.

He said the reappointment of the technical crew to lead the team is based on their commitment  when they were in acting capacity in the last season and hope they would tighten their belts to work hard and restore the club’s glory in the forthcoming season.

He said based on the report of the technical crew the club had agreed to retain 22 players out of 30 players registered last season and the rest of the players were redeployed to Junior Kano Pillars FC and those on loan whose agreement has expired have the option to decide their next destination.

Babangida said the players redeployed to the junior team was based on their performances and other technical reason and their wages would be re-negotiated.

He said the club have invited six new players to reinforce the team from various clubs in and outside the country and some of them are expected to be in Kano by this weekend to join the team training on Monday.
