Akwa United will be at full strength for tomorrow’s Aiteo Cup quarterfinal return leg match against hosts Katsina United Feeders team with the return of their top stars from the WAFU Cup in Ghana.
The Uyo club, who battered the Katsina United second team 7-0 on Sunday in the first leg, are not leaving anything to chance in Katsina tomorrow and so have asked the players to join them from Abuja.
Their players from the WAFU Cup are Emmanuel Ariwachukwu, Afeez Aremu, Ifeanyi Ifeanyi, Friday Ubong and Gabriel Okechukwu.
Defender Connu Paterne was also at the WAFU Cup with Benin.
“We had six players at the WAFU Cup, one of them is from Benin Republic (Paterne), but we had replacements for them,” coach Abdu Maikaba told SCORENigeria after the first game against Katsina Feeders.
“Everybody fought and I hope we’re have made the work easier for ourselves. We will go there and make sure that we qualify for the semi-final.”
Akwa United, who first won this cup competition two years ago, will battle fellow NPFL side Sunshine Stars in the semis should they go past Katsina United Feeders.
The cup final is slated for October 8 in Uyo.
