Iranian club Paykan FC have signed former Enyimba winger Ezekiel Bassey after he flopped at Barcelona ‘B’ and so was not offered a contract at the end of his contract with the Catalan giants second team.
No additional details of the transfer were made available immediately.
Paykan FC are based in Tehran and are owned by Iran’s major car company.
They placed sixth in the league last season, but they are currently 15th on the 16-team table with six points after eight rounds of matches.
Only recently another former Enyimba star Daniel Etor failed to sign in Iran.
SCORENigeria can recall the much-celebrated loan deal of Bassey to Barcelona ended in a fiasco after he failed to impress while in Spain.
SCORENigeria has since understood that Barcelona would have splashed out at least 1.5 million Euros had they signed the player, who has featured for the Super Eagles.
Experts have questioned the integrity and knowledge of the game of those who recommended the former Akwa United star so much that he did not undergo any trials before he was handed a short-term contract by Barcelona reserves.
