Skewed recommendations for national team posts may have delayed appointments

It has been gathered that appointment of new coaches for the country’s U17, U20, U23 teams has been delayed partly because of the recommendations by the technical committee was skewed to a particular geo-political region.

The executive committee discussed the recommendations of the technical committee in Uyo during the World Cup qualifier against Cameroon earlier this month.

The big bosses now demand a more representative list from the technical committee.

Speculations are that the recommendations were –

Nigeria U17 coach – Finidi George

Nigeria U20 coach – Paul Aigbogun

Nigeria U23 coach  – Kennedy Boboye

Super Falcons coach – Edwin Okon

The fear of Giwa in Jos means a rushed trophy presentation to Plateau United

The fear that Chris Giwa will produce another court order to embarrass NFF chieftains was so real in Jos on the final day of the NPFL Saturday so much so that it was a rushed trophy presentation to new champions Plateau United on the day.

To avoid any embarrassment from Giwa, both the NFF and LMC bosses flew into the tin city on a chartered flight from Lagos and only showed up when the Plateau United vs Enugu Rangers had kicked off.

And after the match and it came to trophy presentation, they only managed to get Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong and Plateau United skipper lift the trophy after which it was a quick dash back to the Jos airport and the safety of Lagos.

It was later learnt that players and officials of Plateau United got their winners’ medals in a Jos hotel.

Falode new choice by Nigeria for CAF media chief?

It is now looking very much like the chairperson of the Nigeria Women’s Football League, Aisha Falode, is now the favourite of the NFF leadership to be recommended for the plum post of CAF communications director.

TV personality Falode has already served on the CAF media committee and has severally done media work at various CAF competitions.

Another name now linked with the post is the former Super Falcons media officer who anchors ‘Naija made’ on SuperSport Television.

These days, there is no longer any mention of the hound dogs at the NFF communications department…
