Ebele Obi (right) is mobbed by Heartland teammates after his penalty-stopping display in the Aiteo Cup

Heartland goalkeeper Ebele Obi has told ScoreNigeria.com.ng his team hope to topple holders FC Ifeanyiubah when they both regional rivals do battle an Aiteo Cup Round of 16 game tomorrow.

Mikel Obi’s older brother, whose heroic displays have propelled ‘The Naze Millionaires’ thus far in the cup competition and the league, said they are ready for a battle.

“We are looking forward to progress in the competition. We are preparing for it like every other game, we are going all out to get the maximum points at stake in the game,” Obi told ScoreNigeria.com.ng

Interestingly, Ebele was in the thick of a crowd trouble involving FC Ifeanyiubah in a league game in Nnewi last year.

He was punched by Ifeanyiubah oil tycoon during the fracas and threatened to sue.

On the secret behind the team’s exploits in the second-tier NNL and AITEO Cup, the Jos-born goalkeeper said it was down to hard work and dedication to duty.

“Hard work, dedication, discipline and desire to excel are the keys. Mostly with GOD on our side, all things are possible,” he said to ScoreNigeria.com.ng
