‘Obagol’ Yusuf Lawal, who has signed for Belgian club Lokeren, will play before long in the glamorous Premier League in England, according to his agent.
Former 36 Lion FC of Lagos star Lawal has signed a three-year deal with an option of another year.
And his agent, Bart De Bruyne, has told SCORENigeria this will the chance the dashing striker or right winger needs to show his class in Europe.
“It was not easy to get an unknown player to be signed in Belgium especially with the new rule that a club must pay such a player at least 80,000 Euros a year,” Bart explained to SCORENigeria
“But the boy has now got his chance and he deserves it because he has good mentality, he is talented and he is ambitious.
“The owner of 36 Lion (Gaffar) has prepared him very well and now he knows what he wants.”
The agent spotted Lawal on a recent scouting trip to Lagos along with his associate and former Shooting Stars striker Olumide Harris.
“Nigeria and Brazil have the best football talent but question has always been the development,” he offered.
“This boy has speed and he can win a match for you on his own.
“He’s better than Moses Simon and (Frank) Acheampong (Anderlecht have since sold him to China).
“I expect the coach to start giving him 10, 15 minutes action and by the New Year, I expect him to be fully adapted to the system here in Belgium.
“I have been in football for the past 30 years and I dare to say I will quit the business if this boy does not go on to play in the Premier League in England within two years.”
