Mikel Obi (right) and William Troost-Ekong celebrate his goal against Cameroon

Skipper Mikel Obi has revealed he is still not 100% fit after he returned from a major injury to lead the Super Eagles to a massive home win over Cameroon in a 2018 World Cup qualifier.

Mikel scored in a 4-0 spanking of Cameroon and played for 68 minutes before he was replaced by Mikel Agu.

The former Chelsea star was sidelined for four months after he had to undergo surgery for an abdominal injury.

“I am still not 100%. It was a very bad injury, but I had to be ready for this game,” the China-based midfielder revealed.

Coach Gernot Rohr said he was surprised Mikel could compete in the time he was on the pitch.

“I was surprised he was on for almost 70 minutes,” he said.

“He did it for the love of his country.”
