Samson Siasia is no longer coach of Nigeria U23s after he led the country to bronze medal at last year’s Rio Olympics

SCORENigeria can exclusively report today that vacant national team coaching posts will soon be advertised by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and interested candidates will be expected to apply.

A top official revealed to SCORENigeria: “The vacant national team posts will be advertised and those who are interested will apply and be subsequently interviewed.

“It will no longer be business as usual in the appointment of coaches.

“This is to make the process fairer and more competitive.

“The minimum qualification will be CAF B licence.”

This will be sharp departure of the arrangement whereby unqualified coaches were appointed for the various national teams based on sentiments and self-serving interests, SCORENigeria has further scooped.

Among the various vacant positions to be advertised are those of head coaches and assistants of the women’s national team, the Super Falcons, the Olympic team coach, the U20s, both men and women, as well as the U17s, for both genders.

The U20 women’s team are slated for a qualifier in September.
