SCORENigeria can exclusively reveal that former Super Eagles star Chinedu Obasi will demand he is paid off the reminder his one-year contract worth more than $3 million after he was demoted to the reserves by Chinese second division club Shenzhen FC on the final day of the transfer window in China.
SCORENigeria has gathered that the former Schalke 04 and Hoffenheim forward signed a year’s deal, which will run out in December.
However, after a flying start in the Chinese second-tier league the goals have dried up for Obasi forcing the club owned by the richest man in China to get a replacement on transfer deadline day in China.
A source close to the player told SCORENigeria: “The best option for Chinedu now is for him to be paid off so that he could get another club and be playing again.
“He will be paid and quit China as a free agent.
“He cannot afford to see through the rest of the year in the reserves.”
SCORENigeria first broke that another Eagles star Brown Ideye was also demoted by his Chinese super League club Tianjin Teda to make room for Ghanaian Frank Acheampong from Belgian champions Anderlecht.
