Mikel – Super Eagles skipper is out of Saturday’s AFCON clash against South Africa due to injury

Super Eagles trainings ahead of Saturday’s AFCON qualifier against South Africa have been described by officials as “very fantastic” and the team will again work out at the match venue in Uyo this morning.

Eagles spokesman Toyin Ibitoye disclosed that the 24-man squad have been putting finishing touches to their preparations for Saturday’s game.

The three-time African champions are without Chelsea star Victor Moses and skipper Mikel Obi, but Ibitoye said the squad in Uyo made up of several players yet to win their official debuts are raring to go.

“The training sessions have been very fantastic,” he remarked.

“The team are in great shape, we will do enough to get the three points against South Africa.

“We are just waiting for match day now.”

The Eagles will again train at the Godwill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo from 10am and it will last two hours.

In the meantime, Bafana Bafana of South Africa will as scheduled fly into Lagos and head to Uyo the next day.

Kick-off of the match on Saturday is 5pm local time.
