Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has disclosed he plans to use a proposed training camp in France next month to look at some uncapped players just as he hinted his team plan another friendly after an AFCON qualifier against South Africa in June.

Nigeria have already lined up a friendly against Corsica next month leading up to an AFCON 2019 qualifier at home against South Africa between June 5 and 13.

Rohr: Why I picked Onazi, not Ahmed Musa as captain

Rohr said he plans to get his players together for a training camp rather than allow them to go on holidays before the AFCON qualifier.

“We must prepare very well for the match vs South Africa). We already set out a training scheme to prepare the team,” he said.

“Some of the players will finish their league season at the beginning of May, some middle of May and we cannot allow them to go for holiday for three weeks and later ask them to come to camp ahead of the game against South Africa, so we have a programme to work together as team.

“We have arranged for camping in France, we have been invited for training camp and some friendly games.”

He further revealed: “Although it is not FIFA window, we have some young players who we need to look at and also some of them that have finished their season in Europe, they need to work.

“We have two and half weeks to prepare for South Africa after which we will play another friendly game to accommodate some other players that will be ending their season in June, especially the players playing in China, who will still be in season.

“It is not going to be easy for them to come from China on June 5, there is going to be a lot of difference and it will be a bit difficult, but we have a good programme to prepare everybody for that important game against South Africa, and the next World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon.”
